The cost and potential rebate for sessions will depend on your referral and which psychologist you see. As a general guide, sessions cost between $167- $208. Using a MHCP, rebates are between $88-$129 per session. The ‘gap fee’ or out of pocket cost for one session is typically around $79.
Concession fees may be available to those experiencing financial hardship and in possession of a Low Income Health Care Card and range from $127- $168. The ‘gap fee’ or out of pocket expense for clients with a Low Income Health Care Card is approximately $40.
Private referrals and private health care funded sessions do not attract a Medicare rebate and are charged the standard fee.
Couples therapy costs $220 per session and is not covered under the Medicare initiative.
Third party referrers (WorkCover, Insurance companies, NDIS etc.) have a different fee schedule.
Sessions are 50 minutes unless otherwise stated.
